Yesterday about 5.15pm I went into that shop on my scooter - I had a stroke on 4 August 1987 which paralysed my left side. Apart from that both my knees need replacing (my right one has just one ligament holding my leg up) and also I've broken my ankle twice. Two years I had a hip replacement and it still hurts. So I think you can understand why I need my scooter.
I went down one aisle and where I normally go had five empty boxes on it so I couldn't go round there, so I started to reverse (which sometimes when I'm tired I do have a bit of trouble with just one hand) and I backed into a post which fell - I was just picking it up when the 'shop assistant' bellowed at me to 'leave it'. He then 'went on to ask me if I had any lessons on my scooter (I've been driving it for 1 and a half years and nothing like this had ever happened to me before). Then he told me that he couldn't have me going into his shop and breaking things - I said that I would pay for anything that's broken, but there wasn't. He then told me that I'm banned from that shop and then said I'm banned for life! Unless I could walk in to which I replied that I couldn't. I am a Coeliac so I've been to that shop many times but this was the last time I'd be going and I'm going to advise all my friends not to go there. His last words to me was 'get out'. He was the most obnoxious person that I've ever met!
I'd appreciate your comments on this - by the look of that shop I'm not the only one that he talked to so disreceptfully as there was no one else in the shop and I normally have to queue up. My scooter is my only bit of freedom..
